Loren C. Park
Loren C. Park 1931 ~ 2007 NEPHI- Loran Cleston Park passed away on Sun. May 20, 2007 in Provo, Utah. He was born October 6, 1931 in Nephi, Utah to Loran Hugh and Alice Enola Barnes Park. He married Marilyn Kay January 13, 1951 in Texas. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple October 22, 1951. Cleston is survived by his wife Marilyn; sons, Michael (Sheila) and Marlin (Denise); 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Grant (Iris) Park and Steven (Shirley) Park; sisters, Iris (Charles) Tolley and Sylvia (Robert) Ostergaard. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Valeen Braithwaite; son, Craig Loran Park. He was a member of the Utah National Guard from 1948-1991, in the 1457th Engineers GP and the 115th Engineers GP. He served in the Korean War. During Desert Storm he cared for the wives and children of soldiers serving in the 1457th Engineer GP. He retired in 1991 as a Command Sergeant Major (SGM). While in the guard, he and Marilyn made many life long friends. After his retirement he worked for Nephi City and the Juab School District for 15 years. He coached many of his sons' youth sports teams and was an avid Juab High School sports fan and bus driver. He was member of the Nephi City Fire Department for 35 years and a member of the Lions Club. He was also an active member of the LDS church where he held many offices and enjoyed singing in the choir. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family camping at the 1/2 of Ten and Yuma, Arizona during the winter, playing with his family and friends, shopping, and going for a drive with his wife. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 in the Nephi 2nd Ward, 222 S. 100 E. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 W. 300 N. and at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Nephi Vine Bluff Cemetery.
